THE FOSCOE PHILHARMONIC

Foscoe Philharmonic is a string duo consisting of Greg Logan (violin) and Ray Green (viola).  Greg and Ray have performed together since college (over 40 years), providing a quality of sound and experience unmatched in the area.  Foscoe Philharmonic performs for weddings, banquets, private parties and other social events in the Raleigh, NC area.  Their music encompasses a wide variety of styles and genres. We do stationary sets as well as strolling when that personal touch is needed. When asked what do we play,  we like to say, "Everything from Mozart to Motown".

   Greg is a native of Raleigh,NC and is one of the original founders of the Foscoe Philharmonic. Along with performing with the Foscoe Phil,  he teaches private violin and viola lessons. He is married to  Dannette and has 3 sons, Adam, David and Michael.  Greg is a graduate of NC Central University, Durham, NC, where he completed a B.A. in Music Education.  He also attended  Appalachian State University, where he attained the position of Concertmaster suring his sophomore year.  Greg served as the concertmaster  of the Raleighg Civic Symphony, as well as playing 1st violiln  for a number of professional, regional and local orchestras such as the Charleston and Florence Symphonys in South Carolina.  Greg has performed in the  Fayetteville, Asheville, Salisbury, Wilson, Durham and Raleigh Symphonys in North Carolina. Greg also had the honor to hold the Principal 2nd Violin position in the 1986 Olympic Trials Orchestra.

    Ray currently works as a Real Estate Appraiser and is a freelance musician on the side.  He received his musical training at Appalachian State University, where he trained for a degree in performance. His ability to accompany, harmonize and create rhythms is unique for a viola player because of limited music written for the instrument.  He has played in numerous professional orchestras,  taught privately and is an original member of the Foscoe Philharmonic String Duo. Ray was the primary catalyst for our 1st CD, Off The Mountain.

  While we perform primarily as a duo, we can accommodate those who are seeking to hire a trio or even a quartet. Please feel free to ask!  

   For those of you wondering about volume for a particular audience, we come equipped with wireless mikes and a Bose amplification system which allows our ensemble (duo, trio or quartet) to accomodate audiences of various sizes.
